...Faith In Action Charities

The original, national, Faith In Action
initiative was founded by the Robert Wood Johnson philanthropy in 1984. A total of 1,400 chapters
were funded throughout the United States and Carribean. The original premise was based
on a commissioned study that found people of spiritual congregations are more likely to help others. The original idea proposed these people put their faith into action for the betterment of local community
health and social services by volunteering with them to help others.
In 2005 Florida’s Faith
In Action chapters, some providing services for 13 years
or more, some only recently begun, banned together and formed a regional alliance with a Florida administrative headquarters
as the next step in their organizational growth. Guided by the traditions of the founders and working collectively to promote
physical, mental and community well-being, the regional office acts as an intermediary to underpin the service providing
chapters, maximizing resources and minimizing their operating costs while building stronger, more sustainable faith infused
non-profits. This innovative idea helps charitable operating money to go further and seeks to constantly improve the overall
quality of all chapters so they may better serve their communities and clients.
Specifically, Interfaith Florida, provides resource
development, fundraising, grantwriting, volunteer management, marketing, public relations, capacity building, technical assistance
and supervision of inter-chapter collaborating projects. Any 501(c)3 charity can become a member of Interfaith Florida if they meet the qualifications of providing
interfaith home centered care services of some type through the use of volunteers and are seeking to improve the self-sufficiency
of individuals in their community.

Because it is an association, a collaboration of 45 incorporated 501c3 organizations,
Interfaith Florida operates under the umbrella of The Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, the largest community foundation in Florida. We appreciate their support of new and innovative charitable
endeavors in Florida.
